It reminds me of the time a few years ago when a big brouhaha erupted in D.C. after some bureaucrat used the descriptive word “niggardly” correctly in a budget meeting. Here are some more examples of the same absurdity, along with a balanced assessment of the matter, in some musings by John Derbyshire of The National Review. Upshot: Out of civility, don’t say rarely-used, insensitive-appearing homonyms (oops) around ignorant and illiterate fools.
