It’s scary what some “humans” will do. I don’t get this on a number of levels. First, I can’t imagine engaging in this conduct. Second, what is “gross” abuse of a corpse? Isn’t it all “gross,” at least in a colloquial sense? Also, why aren’t autopsies gross abuse of a corpse?
Third, why is this criminal? One can chop up a living five-month old fetus and that’s called a constitutionally-cherished right on which the Republic and all American womanhood relies, if the Supreme Court and the feminists are to be believed. But one can’t do some disgusting things to a mass of dead cells? Or, there is a strong argument that the Supreme Court’s cases support a constitutional right to engage in consensual sex. That argument has been extended by some (though not all) lower courts to a constitutional right to enjoy (presumably) sex toys. Then why not a corpse? [Note to President Obama: This in fact is pronounced c-o-r-p-s-e. Corps, as in Marine Corps is pronounceed c-o-r-e.] Is it a property theory, that this is someone else’s corpse, e.g., the other family’s? What if this were a family member, then? Also, analogous to federal law regarding trash placed curbside, does one at some point lose the property interest in the corpse?
Fourth, why did it take nearly twenty years to deal with this? Fifth, if you’re the necrophiliac, how do you explain this to your cell-mates?
