Election 2008: Despite media hype, turnout not as high as expected

Some interesting voting analysis of the 2008 election from American University. Conclusion: Turnout was not much higher than the 2004 election. Increased turnout among Blacks and (some, but not much) among younger voters was offset by a sharp decline among Republicans. One change: Unmarried women went even more overwhelmingly for Obama than for other Democrats in the past. There is a huge difference between unmarried women (who went 70-29 for Obama) and married women (who went 50-47 for Obama).

No word on how this demographic voted, though it is strongly in favor of the right to bare arms, among other things. You sure don’t want a photo finish result, though, what with having to examine their swinging, hanging, dimpled, and pregnant chads.
